Hamdi Hafeez, President of Matrouh Island, spoke of his team's victory over Egyptian counterpart Al Borceidi in the 32-year-old Egypt Cup match.
The match was held on the grounds of Ismailia Stadium after being postponed several times due to the insistence of the Egyptian authorities to participate in Port Said.
"We have managed the players and the technical staff, who deserve to play in the Premier League," Hafeez said on television after the match.
He added: "We threatened to withdraw because the match had been transferred to Burj Al Arab, but when we learned that the Egyptian would not play against the Burj Al Arab decision, we retreated and fought."
"We have the ambition to reach the final stage of the Cup and we will trace to the players the greatest reward in the history of the club through the victory over the Egyptian."
"We will make a surprise against Petrojet in the 16th round of the Egypt Cup."
He concluded: "The governor of Matrouh will watch the reward after the Egyptian match"
The team from Matrouh Island will face Petrojet in the last 16 of the Egyptian Cup, in a match that has yet to be announced.
