The Indian coach resigns after his exit from the Asian Cup

Englishman Stephen Konstantin has resigned from his Indian coaching duties.

Konstantin's resignation comes after the team's departure from the Asian Cup in the UAE after beating Bahrain unanswered.

"I have been here for four years and my goal since day one was to qualify for the Asian Nations Cup, and we did it," Konstantin said.

"I am very proud of the players and all that they have done, I thank the Indian Football Federation for supporting me."

He stressed that his team did not deserve to lose to Bahrain, after the good performance of the game, indicating that the errors were part of the game to pay the team a wrong tax, made in a difficult time, to score the winning goal, a penalty.

"When you lose a penalty kick in this difficult time, you have to be very sad and we have had a lot of chances in the match, but we have not managed to score.

He concluded: "I think my step is over, I've done what he's asked, it's time to leave."

Konstantin took charge of the team in early 2015.

Konstantin led the team to a good playoff run, winning eight games, two draws, two losses, eight losses and scoring 25 goals against 24.

India started their Asian Cup with a 4-1 win over Thailand, but the team lost 2-0 to UAE and Bahrain in order to finish the first group and drop tournament.
