The Indian probe Chandrian 2 leaves Earth's orbit and heads for the moon

LONDON (Reuters) – The Chandrian-2 spacecraft has left Earth's orbit to head for its lunar orbit, the US space agency said on Wednesday.

"At 2:21 am (00:21 Moscow time) on Wednesday morning, the spaceship of the Chandrian-2 mission maneuvered successfully to change its orbit in space and head for its supposed path to the moon."

He said the satellite had to be launched in space on July 15, but experts and several hours before the launch decided to defer the process for technical reasons, so that the launch was successful on the 22nd of the same month. .

The Chandrian-2 mission is the continuation of the Chandrian-1 Indian Mission to the Moon in 2008, which orbited 312 days and sent an exploration probe to its surface.

The current mission program includes the delivery of a small spacecraft on the moon, which will examine, during a lunar day (14 Earth days), the mineral composition and surface elements.
