A woman in burkini
According to a survey conducted by the French Institute of Public Opinion (FIFG), 66% of French support the adoption of a law prohibiting swimming with a "legitimate swimsuit" known as the name of "Burkina Faso".
Sixty-six percent of French respondents said they were banned on the beach, while 73% said the ban should also be extended to public pools.
The controversy over "Bourguenie" was raised again in France on March 23, after a "disobedience" staged in a swimming pool in the city of Grenoble, where the badociation "Alliance Sittwein", which fights against the discrimination, brought a group of women carrying "Burkini" into a public swimming pool. Although the internal law of the pool is forbidden to wear these clothes.
The move, carried out by 10 Muslim women, was supported by the pool members who applauded them, but the police decided to punish them for breaking the law and fined them 35 euros.
