The World Health Organization (WHO) consultant, Nbader Luza, confirmed that there is a false mental image of the mental patient that makes him present in the media as a dangerous person.

In a conference on the role of the media in correcting misconceptions in the field of mental health, organized by the General Federation of Arab Journalists in Sharm el-Sheikh in cooperation with the WHO Office in Cairo, Luza stressed the need to take strong measures against drug trafficking such as tramadol and other misused pharmaceuticals, noting that in 1928 Egypt had established the first drug police force because of its effects negatives on the mind.

For his part, Dr. Khaled Said, Regional Advisor for Mental Health at the World Health Organization, released the results of the World Drug Report published in June 2019, explaining that there were about 571 million drug users worldwide, of which only 31 million abused these substances and fell into the circle of addicts.

He pointed out the seriousness of the injection treatments, which injured five million people with "C" and "B" hepatitis, and that of one million people infected with the AIDS virus, calling for the adoption of a collaborative approach between law enforcement and treatment and rehabilitation of drug-addicted patients.

In turn, the chairman of the Training Committee of the Union of Arab Journalists, Salem Al-Jahouri, said that the Federation was using this session to sensitize the media to correct ideas. false and use them as tools to give a clear picture of society in order to reduce diseases that pose a threat to the security of Arab societies. .

He pointed out that the Federation of Arab Journalists was seeking, through the Training Committee, to coordinate with various Arab and international organizations the development of training plans aimed at improving the efficiency of journalists. facing the problems of society. "We started to correct misconceptions about health and to strengthen cooperation with international organizations to organize a series of training courses later in other Arab capitals for diversity."
