The message from Aoun to Berri

The President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, through the intermediary of President Nabih Berri, sent a message to Council members asking him to interpret Article 95 of the Constitution, in particular paragraph "B".

In his letter, President Aoun stressed that "Article 95 of the Constitution must be interpreted, in accordance with the rules of constitutional interpretation, in order to preserve our Charter, our national consensus and our common life, which are essential to the existence of Lebanon.

He also affirmed that "we reserve our constitutional right and duty of our position, our role and our oath, taking the measure which we consider compatible and the Constitution in the matters which have affected us in this letter, to the interpretation of your Majlis.

The article raised considerable controversy among the forces and political parties and became a controversial issue with regard to the issue of appointments to state positions and the method of recruiting successful candidates to the Public Service Council. .

"This letter requires an invitation from President Nabih Berri to hold the House of Representatives in accordance with the provisions of Rule 145 of the Rules of Procedure in order to discuss the message and make recommendations thereon is not binding in absolute terms, "he said.
