LONDON (Reuters) – John Flint resigned as the group faced a "complex and increasingly demanding global environment," the HSBC group said on Monday.

The bank said in a statement that Flint "and although he will no longer perform his daily tasks, he will remain available to help HSBC in the transition process".

Noel Quinn, head of commercial banking at HSBC, will be interim general manager until Flint's estate.

The British banking group said its pre-tax profit rose 15.8 percent to $ 12.4 billion in the first half of this year.
