Spain's Athletic Bilbao has made a rare move in the professional world by extending the contract of striker Iniaki Williams for nine years, the Basque club announced on Monday.
Aged 25, he has been representing Bilbao since 2014, having also pbaded the age difference between 2012 and 2013 and, thanks to his new contract, he will stay in the club until 2028.
The contract provides for an increase in the value of the penalty clause from 85 to 135 million euros for those who want to sign the striker, who scored 13 goals in La Liga last season.
The decision to extend the contract comes four days before the start of the Spanish league in the new season, to welcome Bilbao to the holders of Barcelona.
