Jamal Rashid scored a penalty in the first minute of the break to allow Bahrain to qualify for the knockout stages of the Asian Cup after his spectacular 1-0 win against India in Sharjah on Monday.
Rashid scored his left foot in the net following a foul in favor of Hamad Al Shamsan in the region, bringing the Bahraini team to four points in three games in third place in the first group.
But the four points allowed Miroslav Sokop to qualify for third place in sixteenth place in the top 16, while India earned three points after finishing fourth.
The United Arab Emirates were the first team to score five points after a 1-1 draw against Thailand, which finished second with four points thanks to its superiority over Bahrain in direct matches and also qualified for the round of 16.

The United Arab Emirates, already qualified for the round of 16, have just tied 1-1 with Thailand in the Asian Cup to stay ahead of group A on Monday.
Ali Mabkhout headed to the UAE seven minutes later, while Titian Puangan tied for Thailand in the 41st minute.
The UAE secured their qualification for the knockout stages before the match, but the result kept them in the lead with five points. Thailand and Bahrain qualified for the round of 16.
Approximately 18,000 spectators attended the Hazza bin Zayed stadium while the crowd wore a huge banner that read "Together until the end" and another, "Fight for Gold".
