NEW YORK (Reuters) – Major US stock indexes tumbled more than 1 percent on Monday as widespread tensions provoked by political tensions that pushed investors to move from equities to bonds, while the long-running US trade war -Chinese was fearing a possible recession.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed the session down 391.00 points, or 1.49%, to 25,896.44 points, while the Standard & Poor's Index 500 index (.SPX ) lost 35.96 points, or 1.23%, to close at 2,882.69.

The Nasdaq composite index <.IXIC> lost 98.73 points, or 1.2%, to 7,863.41.
