The European Football Federation (UEFA) announced on Sunday night the creation of a third championship of clubs that will run from 2021 to 2024 at a meeting in Dublin, the Irish capital.
"The new tournament, which will take place from 2021 on UEL2, will be aligned with the Europa League and the Champions League with 32 clubs."
"The championship will start with eight groups, then the 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals."
"A role will be set for the exit of the defeat before the role of the 16 and will be composed of clubs that finish in second place in each group and in third place in the Europa League."
The new tournament will count 141 matches in 15 weeks, in the image of the UEFA Champions League, and the defending champions will be in the European Championship next season.
The final of the three tournaments of the European Union will be held in a week, Wednesday for the new tournament, Thursday for the European Championships and Saturday for the Champions League.
