We are facing serious problems with drug supply because of the sanctions

Health Minister Saeed Nemki said the sanctions on the health sector were a crime against humanity.

Nemki's words, quoted by the Iranian news agency A-News, were published late Monday following his meeting with Lebanese Minister of Health Jamil Jebak, who is visiting Tehran.

"Contrary to the claims of the US administration, the health sector is covered by sanctions and this sector is targeted by the US government."

"Ninety-seven percent of the drugs needed in Iran have been produced in the interior of the country, but three percent can not be saved because of US sanctions," said Nemki.

For his part, the Lebanese Minister of Health, Jamil Jabbak, said that his country opposed the imposition of sanctions on Iran, stressing that "the sanctions against Iran are harsh and nothing prevents us from dealing with Iran ".

Although the Washington administration says the sanctions against Iran do not include food and medicine, Iran is struggling to provide medical equipment due to banking sanctions and obstacles to access to the dollar.
