WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Forbes magazine named Serena Williams as the best mathematician in the world in 2019, according to an annual ranking released on Tuesday.

Williams, 23, earned $ 29.2 million in the 12-month period ended June 1, including $ 4.2 million.

Naomi Osaka was second in 2018 when she beat American Williams in the Flushing Meadows final for a $ 24.3 million gain.

Angelique Kerber of Germany was third with $ 11.8 million against Simona Halep of Romania in fourth place at Wimbledon last month.

Forbes has based its rating on sponsor bonuses and marketing contracts between June 1, 2018 and January 1, 2019.
