The Sao Paulo defender, Rodrigo Caio, said that he had performed routine medical tests before signing a contract with Barcelona, before signing it, before the club decided to abandon at the last minute.
The Spanish newspaper Marca said that Sao Paulo had allowed his player to join the Catalan club, but then decided to sign a contract with Colombian Jason Morio.
"I did the medical test and the results were positive, but Barcelona decided to choose Morio," he said.
"To know that Barcelona interests me makes me happy, it means that they monitor me and know my potential," he said.
The 25-year-old defender has represented Brazil four times and has played his entire career in the Brazilian giant Sao Paulo.
Barcelona have hired Colombian defender Morio of Valencia, loaned until the end of the season, to cover the many injuries in defense.
