Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is the latest NBA player to react strongly to Jacob Blake’s shooting by police in Wisconsin on Monday.
Blake, who is black, was shot in the back in broad daylight in Kenosha, causing widespread protests and unrest across town.
Many details of the shooting were not immediately clear, but the unrest that followed prompted the city to impose a curfew until 7 a.m. on Monday and police have asked businesses to consider staying closed. “Due to numerous armed robberies and gunfire.”
James, who has been outspoken on issues of social injustice, has expressed his thoughts on George Floyd’s death and has now spoken about the police shooting involving Blake.
“And you all wonder why we say what we say about the police !! Someone please tell me WTF is this ??? !!! Exactly another targeted black man, ”James wrote on Twitter. “This shit is so bad and so sad !! Feel so sorry for him, his family and OUR PEOPLE !! We want JUSTICE. “
Police were dispatched on a domestic violence call around 5:11 p.m. before the shooting, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. The newspaper added that officers administered aid to Blake, who was airlifted to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

Julián Castro, the Democrat and former 2020 presidential hopeful, retweeted a video that appeared to show officers yelling at Blake as he tried to walk around an SUV and sit in the driver’s seat. One of the officers appeared to be holding Blake by his shirt before firing.
“Police in Kenosha, Wisconsin appear to shoot seven times in the back at close range after ignoring orders,” Castro tweeted. “Were [sic] no other non-lethal method is considered, @KenoshaPolice? “
The Journal-Sentinel reported that a large crowd appeared at the scene and started small fires in the street. One video purported to show a policeman knocked out during a protest. One person could be heard saying: “He has been hidden”.

The Police Department released a statement confirming the shooting and said the Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol had taken over the scene. The state Department of Justice and its Criminal Investigation Division are expected to investigate the shooting.
Gov. Tony Evers, a Democrat, issued a statement Sunday night saying Blake was shot in broad daylight.
“What we know for sure is that he was not the first black man or person to be mercilessly shot, injured or killed by law enforcement officials in our state. or our country, ”he said.
Evers promised there would be accountability.
