LeBron James overtakes Kevin Durant to lead overall NBA All-Star vote

The NBA released the results of the second round of the all-star vote on Thursday, giving fans another glimpse of what the rosters might look like when the game is played on March 7.

The biggest change since the release of the first ballot on February 4 is that LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers won the overall lead in votes from Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets. James was initially behind Durant by just over 14,000 votes, but now leads with over 135,000 votes. James and Durant each have over four million votes, as does Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers round out the top 5, both with over three million votes each.

The order of voters in the eastern and western frontcourt remained exactly the same, but there was a small movement for the guards at each conference.

Ben Simmons of the Sixers, who had the tenth most votes for guards in the East, was taken off the list, and Fred VanVleet of the Toronto Raptors took his place. VanVleet is the only Raptors player on either list. In the West, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder fell and was replaced by Alex Caruso of the Lakers.

Klay Thompson, who hasn’t played for almost two years, is still getting votes. The Warriors star, who is recovering from multiple knee injuries, has actually moved up the roster since last week. He was 10th on the West Guards list but moved up to eighth place. Heathy or injured, fans love Klay.
