The 2021-22 Los Angeles Lakers are set to be the oldest team in NBA history, and LeBron James wants you to keep talking about it. Well, maybe.
The #Washed King launched a passionate tweet on Wednesday warning anyone and everyone who hates the Lakers about the new look for their potential spacing and injury issues, age, and any other criticism that one might raise.
“Keep talking about my team, the age of our staff, the way he plays, he stays injured, we are over our time in this league etc etc,” implored LeBron. “Do me a favor PLEASE !!!! And I mean PLEASE !!! Keep that same narrative ENERGY when it starts! That’s all I ask. #Thank you.”
A few minutes later, however, he TheRemoved the tweet. Fortunately, we have the receipt:
The Lakers agreed to a deal on Tuesday with one of LeBron’s longtime friends Carmelo Anthony, 37, days after agreeing to acquire Russell Westbrook, 32, with LeBron’s blessing.
After a disappointing Monday which saw Alex Caruso, 27, of the Lakers, bring back four former Lakers aged 32 or older – Kent Bazemore (32), Wayne Ellington (33), Dwight Howard (35) and Trevor Ariza (36) ) – Lakers vice president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka and assistant general manager LeBron James rebounded impressively on Tuesday. Besides Anthony, Los Angeles added Kendrick Nunn (26), Malik Monk (23) and re-signed Talen Horton-Tucker (20).
At the moment, the Lakers have three vacancies to fill. LeBron’s recruiting partner Jared Dudley (36) is waiting for a spot, while another could go to Wesley Matthews (34).

Between Bazemore, Anthony, Ellington, Nunn and Monk – who have all shot over 38% since the deepest of 2020-21 – the Lakers have appeared to resolve their shooting issues, although the addition of Westbrook still complicates matters.
Above all, the fate of the Lakers’ season will depend on the health of LeBron and Anthony Davis. LeBron, in his 37-year-old season, was playing MVP-caliber basketball before suffering a sprained ankle on March 20, from which he never fully recovered.
Davis never started to come out of the shortened offseason and went through a frustrating campaign with a limp.
