LeBron’s first ‘Space Jam’ clip is already a great NBA Twitter meme

“Space Jam: A New Legacy” is slated for release in July on HBO Max, which means we’ll likely have a full trailer for the ’90s classic pseudo-sequel soon. But while we’ve already seen what it looks like the Lakers and future movie star LeBron James in the new Tune Squad jersey on Saturday a preview of the upcoming Warner Bros. slate. gave us our first (albeit brief) look at James live alongside Bugs Bunny.

James only shared the clip of himself on his Instagram account, and it looks like he might be excited about the movie, but it’s hard to say, really:

And just as he and WB probably expected, that quick glimpse was just enough to make NBA Twitter (especially the Lakers segment) turn into their latest and greatest meme:

Between the look of confusion visible on James’ face – can you tell the buzz of the first Oscars, anyone ?? – and the abject horror over Bugs Bunny’s, it’s an incredibly versatile reaction meme that can be used for tons of more situations than the ones above, and I think we’ll start to see it in quite a few people’s rotations. frequently.

And who knows how good the movie will be, but the visual style looks really cool, and if it gives us more memes like this, no one is going to complain (okay, okay, it’s LeBron, so some people will complain anyway, but you know what I’m talking about).

With just six months until the film is about to release, it would be a surprise if we didn’t get a trailer soon at a big Lakers game that was televised nationally, or maybe even during the Super Bowl. After all, it would be very LeBron to steal the thunder from football on his day off, and hey, he already has.

But no matter when we have our next look, it was a fun first. Or, to use memes jargon, “Us when we got our first glimpse of ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’.”

See? I told you it was versatile.
