Lee Brice tests positive for COVID-19, no longer playing with Carly Pearce at CMA Awards
A representative for the singer said he was “in a good mood and showed no symptoms”
Lee Brice will not be attending Wednesday’s Country Music Association Awards 2020.
On Sunday, a representative for the country singer told The Associated Press that Brice, 41, tested positive for the coronavirus before the show and would no longer perform with Carly Pearce. The duo were scheduled to take the stage together after being nominated for their duo “I Hope You’re Happy Now” for Music Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year. Lady A’s Charles Kelley will perform with Pearce in place of Brice.
Although Brice may not be able to attend the biggest night in country music, his rep told the exit that the “I Don’t Dance” singer was still “in a good mood and had no symptoms.” He will self-isolate at home for the next two weeks until cleared by a doctor.

“Lee would like to thank the CMAs and all of his incredible fans for his nominations and wish his fellow nominees an incredible night celebrating the best in country music,” his representative said in the statement.
Brice’s representative did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
A spokesperson for the AMC also confirmed to the AP that Brice had been tested before arriving on site for one of the rehearsals or activities of the show.

Even though CMAs will look a little different this year amid the ongoing pandemic, CMA CEO Sarah Trahern has promised an unforgettable night of star-studded performances.
“The 54th annual CMA Awards will mark the first time that the biggest names in country music will come together – safely, all in one room – this year,” a press release from the show reads.
“We are thrilled that this amazing group of artists are taking the stage at the CMA Awards this year! It is a privilege to present these performances live to our audience with the energy and excitement for which the CMA Awards are known, ”Trahern said in the version.
“And while the show will be a little more intimate this year, we look forward to welcoming our nominated artists and their guests as we celebrate the best of country music in a completely safe and physically remote environment,” she added. .

Hosted by Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker, the 2020 CMAs will feature performances from artists like Lady A, Gabby Barrett starring Charlie Puth, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Rascal Flatts and Eric Church. To complete the list, Luke Combs, Ashley McBryde, Florida Georgia Line and a team of Thomas Rhett with McEntire, Hillary Scott and Chris Tomlin.
The CMA nominees were announced in October with Miranda Lambert leading the pack with seven nominations, including Artist of the Year. Luke Combs, who is also up for this award, is nominated six times.
The 54th CMA Awards will air Wednesday, November 11 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
