Former NFL running back LeGarrette Blount has announced his retirement.

Blount, who last performed in 2018, wrote on Instagram that he was ready to say it was over.

“I just want to let you know that I am officially retiring,” Blount wrote. “I thought about this decision at length and told my family and closest friends about it. We collectively agreed on this decision. It is in the best interests of me and my family.

Blount went on to thank five of the six NFL teams he’s played for at some point in his career, starting with the Titans (who signed him as an undrafted free agent but cut him before the start of the regular season) and including the Buccaneers, Patriots, Steelers and Eagles.

“Overall, I loved being a part of these organizations and the people involved in them,” Blount wrote.

Blount didn’t mention his latest team, the Lions.

Blount, 33, who won two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots and one with the Eagles, concluded: “Now everyone can stop asking ‘are you done?'”
