In letter : Are you a fan of small colored bricks and frustration? Lego has just unveiled its biggest set to date: a replica of the HMS Titanic. Like the famous ship that sank in the Atlantic Ocean over 100 years ago, this thing is huge.
The Lego HMS Titanic beats the company’s previous largest set, the 9,036-piece Lego Colosseum, thanks to its 9,090 pieces. It measures 54 inches; that’s four and a half feet of display space that you’ll need to find once it’s assembled, which will no doubt take a long, long time. In one context, the monstrously large Lego Imperial Star Destroyer is just under four feet long.
All of these parts mean that the Lego Titanic, which has a scale of 1: 200, is incredibly detailed. A cross section shows a staircase, a smoking room and a boiler room. You can even spin the propellers to watch the pistons move. The exterior, meanwhile, has features such as a bridge, promenade deck, functional anchor, tension lines, and a swimming pool.
The set is part of the Lego range designed specifically for adults, so it is recommended for people aged eighteen and over.
The Lego Titanic will be available for pre-order on November 1 before going on sale on November 8. It obviously won’t be cheap – $ 630 RRP – but it’s still less than the $ 699.99 Star Destroyer.
Surprisingly enough, a recent poll showed that, based on public tweets, Lego is the second most hated brand in the United States, falling between # 1 Uber and # 3 Sony. This is likely related to the company’s customer service, rather than people accidentally standing barefoot on the bricks.
