Lego has absolutely killed it lately, apparently adding an exceptional new vehicle to its repertoire of rides every two weeks. Just over a week ago, we discovered the Ferrari 488 GTE AF Corse # 51, joining the list of manufacturers of GT cars of various brands and sizes. This week’s reveal, however, is a completely different beast: a Jeep wrangler Rubicon. And it’s not even that expensive! (For a Lego kit, anyway.)
Indeed, the Wrangler sells for $ 49, which makes it a much cheaper gift than this 488, priced at $ 169. Unfortunately, none of these new Technic kits will arrive before Christmas. They are expected to start shipping on January 1, according to the Lego website, they will therefore qualify for the current late window.
For me, this Wrangler is the perfect Lego set to give away because it isn’t that expensive, isn’t extremely complex at 665 pieces, and looks pretty precise, which of course is facilitated by the classic proportions of the Wrangler.

Those tiny beams! The winch! The axles even articulate – what’s not to like? The little Wrangler can be steered from behind via a dial and Lego-style even the seats fold down.
I have to admit, it’s hard not to be jealous of kids these days. Lego garage currently consists of Fiat 500, Ferrari F8 Tributo, Jaguar Formula E racing car, Porsche 911 RSR, Dom Toretto’s Charger from Fast furious, the new Land Rover Defender, the Ferrari F40 Competizione and the Audi Sport Quattro S1, among many other vehicles that I have not mentioned.
Not all of them necessarily translate well in Lego form, but who cares? The fact that so many options exist today would have broken my 9-year-old brain. And we haven’t even discussed the vast community of builders sharing their own designs, like Steve hall, whose Alfa Romeo 155 V6 AWD fills me with childish joy.
So to you and the little car enthusiasts in your life, happy construction. This is definitely the season for it.
