Leland Chapman, the son of Dog the Bounty Hunter, reportedly was hospitalized in Alabama this week as a result of an injury while he was participating in a manhunt with his father in Colorado – who was back at work for the first time after the death of his wife.

The two men were chasing a fugitive wanted for harassment when Chapman tore his ACL while trying to control the suspect. He will be waiting for about six weeks, a spokesman told AL.com.

Beth Chapman, Leland's late wife and Leland's mother, lost her two-year fight against throat cancer last month. A memorial is planned this Saturday in his home state of Colorado.

After his death in Hawaii on June 26, Dog told reporters outside his home in Honolulu how much he loved his wife, saying, "Beth is not dead, she sleeps." He added that they were trying to celebrate his life but that the family was mourning his death.
