MWC mainly concerns phones and other mobile technologies, but Lenovo has also used the show to present a handful of new products outside this narrow but broad category. The most interesting of them is a portable monitor that allows you to bring the dual monitor user experience with you and your laptop while traveling.
The ThinkVision M14 is a 14-inch monitor with an IPS panel. The resolution is 1920×1080 pixels, which is enough for 14 inches. Designed for modern laptops, it connects to your computer with USB-C. In fact, it has two USB-C ports, and both can be used for the relay, provided you connect the monitor to an AC adapter. You can power the monitor from your laptop, but that does not seem to be enough, and Lenovo has not specified the amount of power needed for this computer.
The ThinkVision M14 weighs 1.3kg and measures 4.6mm thick. The only available adjustment is the foot, which you can see in action in one of the rendering images above. The monitor will be available from May of this year for $ 249.
We are always happy to see that such options are available to consumers. Creative people (like video editors in particular) will appreciate the extra screen even when they are on the go. That being said, Lenovo has not said anything about color spaces and the like. You must therefore remain vigilant if they matter to you, at least until you have more information.
Lenovo laptops
Lenovo also used MWC to announce updates to its ThinkPad notebook lineup with several new models (the T490, T490, T590, X390, and X390 Yoga) and its mid-range IdeaPad lineup with the new C340 models, S340 and S540. He also introduced the 14w and 14th notebooks aimed at front line workers of the company; the first of these two software runs Windows 10 Pro, the last is a Chromebook. Most of the models presented are just technical bumps compared to last year.
ThinkPads offer Dolby Vision HDR resolution, low-power display options and faster Wi-Fi connectivity 6, as well as eighth-generation Intel Core processors and a revamped BIOS experience.
