As part of its business at CES 2021, Lenovo announced a trio of new IdeaPad laptops: the IdeaPad 5i Pro, IdeaPad 5 Pro, and IdeaPad 5G. The last of these three models is decidedly the most specialized, as 5G probably isn’t something the average consumer is likely looking for in a laptop right now. Especially considering the fact that IdeaPad devices are aimed more at mainstream consumers, as opposed to business users.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5G will support networks below 6 GHz, but will revert to 4G speeds where 5G is not available. The IdeaPad 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 5G SoC with Adreno 680 graphics with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. Other specs include a 14-inch 1920 × 1080 IPS display, 512 GB of PCIe SSD storage, and a 51 Wh battery that can run for up to 20 hours while watching video continuously.

The laptop has front-facing Dolby Audio speakers, dual input microphone, infrared camera to unlock the laptop with your face. The IdeaPad 5G is also one of the first Lenovo devices to include a new software feature called Show Mode for PC. This essentially turns the laptop into an Echo Show type device. You’ll be able to use Amazon Alexa to play music, launch apps, control your other smart home devices, and more. This new feature will be available in the second quarter of 2021 and is expected to reach some other new and existing IdeaPad laptops in the future.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5G does not yet have a release date or price, although we do know that it will not be sold in the United States. There will also be a 4G / LTE-only version that will work on the Snapdragon 8c platform in certain markets.

The 14-inch version will be sold in Europe in March starting at € 699 while the 16-inch model will have a starting price of € 899.

The 14-inch IdeaPad 5 Pro will use the next-generation AMD Ryzen H-Series mobile processors, as well as Nvidia MX450 onboard graphics.
