Leonard Fournette will again be in the starting lineup for the Buccaneers. The running back known as “Playoff Lenny” will start in place of Ronald Jones for the Tampa Bay Los Angeles Week 3 game against the Rams, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Fournette started the Buccaneers ‘season opener over the Cowboys before returning to his role as Jones’ replacement in Tampa Bay’s Week 2 win over the Falcons. He totaled 67 yards against the Cowboys and has 76 yards against Atlanta. Jones, who suffered a fumble against the Cowboys, has just 50 yards on 11 total touches in two games.

Fourth overall pick in the 2017 draft, Fournette is in the middle of his second season with the Buccaneers. Including last year’s Super Bowl run, Tampa Bay is 8-0 with Fournette in the starting lineup. In the 2020 playoffs, Fournette rushed for 300 yards and three touchdowns in four games. He also tallied 148 receiving yards, including a touchdown reception in the Saints’ divisional round playoff victory over the Saints. Fournette’s 135 all-purpose yards at Super Bowl LV included a 27-yard touchdown run that helped propel the Buccaneers to a 31-9 victory over the Chiefs.

Fournette and the Buccaneers will face a Rams defense that is 20th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed in two games. They managed to contain Colts running back Jonathan Taylor to just 51 yards on 15 carries in last Sunday’s 27-24 win at Indianapolis.
