The Atlanta Braves have announced their NLDS roster against the Milwaukee Brewers and there are a few surprises. Most important of these is the inclusion of outfielder Terrance Gore who hasn’t spent time with the Major League club this season. Gore will serve as a pinch run option and potential defensive replacement late in the inning in the outfield.
The Braves will carry 14 positional players and 12 pitchers for the NLDS. Here is the breakdown of the list by position:
Catchers (2): Travis d’Arnaud, William Contreras
Infielders (6): Ehire Adrianza, Ozzie Albies, Orlando Arcia, Freddie Freeman, Austin Riley, Dansby Swanson
Voltigeurs (6): Adam Duvall, Terrence Gore, Guillermo Heredia, Joc Pederson, Eddie Rosario, Jorge Soler
Pitchers (12): Ian Anderson, Jesse Chavez, Max Fried, Luke Jackson, Dylan Lee, Tyler Matzek, AJ Minter, Charlie Morton, Will Smith, Drew Smyly, Jacob Webb, Huascar Ynoa.
Some notable omissions include both Chris Martin and Richard Rodriguez. Martin has struggled with his health and efficiency throughout the season. Rodriguez’s recent struggles have been well documented. Plus, Spencer Strider didn’t make the cut at least for the NLDS.
