Venom: let there be carnage arrives exclusively in UK cinemas from October 15, and as you will no doubt know from the trailers and clips released by Sony Pictures, the relationship between Venom and Eddie Brock will be a big part of the plot. At one point, the characters engage in a brilliantly choreographed battle in Eddie’s apartment.

Putting this sequence together hasn’t been an easy task, which we learned in a recent conversation with director Andy Serkis. The filmmaker shared with us how he pitted Eddie against Venom and credited Tom Hardy’s work as the key to helping this hilarious and memorable encounter come to life.

“Yes, the point is, the performance side is down to Tom’s brilliance as a physical performer. His process of creating Venom was to record all of the lines of Venom first for himself and then to do them. play in an earpiece so that he can improvise with ‘Venom’ and his own timing “, explains the filmmaker.

“That’s how we started each scene, but this one grew as an idea. It was kind of like a slap fight, and then we extended it when we realized it was turning into something. of major. the clothes of another lover in this moment of relationship, ” Serkis continued. “It was a really exciting part of the process of building and working with the stuntmen. They did a fantastic job. With the visual effects team, I’m just working on the special effects because a lot of what’s being projected is real things. It was a huge thing to choreograph. “

The first movie didn’t do the best job of exploring the dynamics of Venom and Eddie beyond a surface level, but with these two clashes in this movie, the stage is set for things to potentially change. importantly for them to move forward. It’s hard to say what form this will take, but Serkis recently told us about the development of Venom’s status as “Lethal Protecto” in Venom 3.
