Actor Letitia Wright has been criticized by his followers after sharing an anti-vaccination video on his Twitter account.
The video challenged the safety and efficacy of a potential Covid-19 vaccine, as well as the safety of vaccines in general.
Wright is best known for playing T’Challa Shuri’s sister in Black Panther and the Avengers films, and for her Emmy-winning role in an episode of Black mirror.
The video she shared was an episode of a YouTube series called On the Table in which a panel discussed the topic of immunization. At one point, presenter Tomi Arayomi said, “I don’t medically understand vaccines, but I’ve always been a little skeptical of them.
The British actor, currently visible in Steve McQueen’s Small ax series for the BBC, posted a link to the video alongside a “praying hands” emoji.
When criticized for the post by fans, Wright claimed it was “valid” to “just ask what was in [a vaccine]”.
“If you don’t conform to popular opinion. but ask questions and think for yourself… you are canceled, ”she wrote shortly after.
“‘Popular opinions’, you mean scientific evidence?” wrote a response.
“No please don’t you, if you’re not a professional please don’t spread false information, as an actress you have a bigger platform which should be used with responsibility and respect another wrote. “If you don’t want to get the vaccine, don’t do it, but don’t share this information with people.”
The independent has contacted representatives for Wright for comment.
