Lewis Hamilton said that it would be "interesting to see" how would the new Ferrari lineup of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc work.

Ferrari has already announced its intention to give Vettel preferential treatment according to the evolution of the 2019 title, but Vettel takes nothing for granted and considers his new teammate as a "full rival".

Hamilton was reluctant to pronounce Leclerc and the potential of 2019 World Champion in the same breath, but he has the feeling that the man from Monaco will "surprise many people".

"Time will tell," Hamilton said in his only press conference scheduled for the first pre-season test.

"I think it would be unfair to put that kind of expectation on his shoulders.

"He is young, he will make mistakes, but he is obviously very talented and above all likely to surprise a lot of people."

The five-time world champion is interested in the operation of this new partnership, especially after having lived a youth scenario against experience at McLaren.

He added, "But you're talking about a veteran [Vettel], four-time world champion. There is no substitute for experience, so it will be interesting to see how these two parallels work together.

"Sebastian is a multiple world champion and Charles has a lot of experience, but what's good with a young person is that you're energetic, determined and have more energy than others.

"It will be interesting to watch. I am in the same situation with McLaren.

"You've seen it in one area, it will be interesting to see it in another."
