LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Lexington Police are asking people to avoid downtown Short and Market St.

In a tweet, police say they are investigating an incident in the area.

The Kentucky Traffic Management Center says Main Street appears to be closed between MLK and Broadway, and all intersecting streets are also closed. The limestone is closed between Vine and Church St.

We have a team on the corner of Main and Limestone which is as close as the police leave people and drivers.

The police evacuated bars, sand restaurants from other buildings in the city center.

We spoke to a former WKYT employee who was in a downtown bar when the police arrived to ask everyone to leave ASAP.

We’re still waiting to speak to Lexington Police to get a better idea of what’s going on.

This story is developing.
