LG announces the release of its 8K OLED and NanoCell TVs

The company's new 8K displays extend to other markets.

LG has announced the release of its OLED88Z9 88 inch OLED TV 8K and 75SM99 75 inch NanoCell 8K LCD TV. Both models are being rolled out in the United States, Australia, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

"The new 8K TVs show that LG is firmly committed to providing consumers with a true 8K, in accordance with established standards of the display industry," said Brian Kwon, president of the company's mobile communications and home entertainment companies. LG. "The LG 8K OLED and NanoCell TVs are not just TVs with more pixels, they also offer all of our newest display technologies."

The OLED88Z9 and 75SM99 systems both offer 8K (7,680 x 4,320) resolution with over 33 million pixels. The 88-inch model uses an OLED panel with emissive display technology for perfect blacks, infinite contrast, and superior viewing angles. The 75-inch model uses an LCD panel with Nano Color filters and Nano Black Full Array Local Dimming Pro technology.

In addition, both displays use LG 's second generation α (Alpha) 9 Gen 2 8K intelligent processor, which provides in – depth learning technology for audio and video optimization, as well advanced 8K upconversion and 6-step noise reduction technology. Likewise, TVs also support Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, HDR10, Technicolor's advanced HDR and HLG. HDMI 2.1 connectivity is also implemented, offering 8K playback at 60fps, Low Auto Latency (ALLM) mode, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Enhanced Audio Return Channel (EARC). Finally, Apple AirPlay 2 features and Google Assistant built-in support and Amazon Alexa voice control will also be included in some markets.

the 75SM99 75 inch NanoCell 8K LCD TV is currently registered with Best Buy for an MSRP of $ 4,999.99. Official prices are not listed for the OLED88Z9 88 inch OLED TV 8K, but a report from Engadget says it will cost $ 42,000.
