Liam Neeson can step back from the action

After becoming a staple of the action genre for over a decade, Liam Neeson may be retiring in the near future.

Neeson is currently on promotional tours for “The Marksman” in which he plays an ex-Marine turned recluse rancher who must protect an eleven-year-old boy from drug cartel assassins.

Neeson tells ET Online he loves making action movies: “I love beating guys half my age,” but admits the end of his action movie days is in sight with his recent “Blacklight” filming job that wakes him up a little call:

“Oh yeah. I think so. I’m 68 and a half. 69 this year. There are a few more that I’m going to do this year – I hope COVID allows us – there are a few in the pipeline and then I think that’s probably all Unless I’m on a Zimmer frame or something like that.

I just finished one in Australia, and I had a fight scene with a kid – a cute, sweet actor called Taylor – and halfway through the fight I looked up, I was out of breath. , and it didn’t cost him a dime, and I said, “Taylor, how old are you?” He said “25”. I said, “This is the age of my oldest son!” “

The speech comes as the 2011 Neeson-directed identity theft thriller “Unknown,” one of his first collaborations with Jaume Collet-Serra, recently became the most-watched movie on Netflix.

Neson says they’re “trying to get a TV series made based on the premise of the Unknown story,” but he won’t act – only serve as an executive producer. “The Marksman” is in theaters now.
