Liam Payne opens up about the difficulty of co-parenting his child amid the coronavirus pandemic.
During an Instagram Live Thursday, the 27-year-old singer told producer Ben Winston that seeing his son Bear Gray was “complicated” since the 3-and-a-half-year-old is currently with his mother, Cheryl.
“I went to see Bear today. We had a little hangout which was pretty cool because I hadn’t seen it for a few weeks,” Payne said.
The former One Direction member admitted visiting his son is “difficult with COVID” as he makes sure to be tested every time before seeing him.

“I have to make sure I am negative before going to see him, so it will be a few days before I can test,” he said.
Although her son is “only on the streets,” Payne said the co-parenting situation was “completely complicated.”
The star, who recently offered to model Maya Henry, also noted that her son has “grown so big.”
“It’s huge,” he shared.
Payne told PEOPLE last month that it was a bizarre experience watching her child grow into a fully trained human.

“It was a tough race, but it’s fantastic to see him grow into the person he’s become,” he said. “He’s a really lovely boy and I feel like he’s settling into himself.”
“He looks exactly like me, which is very strange. When family members see baby photos of me now, they say, ‘Oh wow, Bear looks really great! “Payne added.
Fatherhood is something the star admitted to having “to learn” over time, but that it became more natural as she got older.
“I had my son at a young age, and you think it will be a magical thing, that you are going to one day become the person you are meant to be,” he explained. “But it took a long time to find my balance. I thought dad takes care of everyone, that’s what he does, so my thing was cooking.
“I recently received her report card, and I feel young enough for school reports, and I spoke to the teacher through FaceTime, and I almost felt like I was the kid she was talking about, ”Payne joked.
