The majority leader "should mention the HR 8 the week the Congress returns," said Schumer in a tweet of Saturday night, hours after the passage of an armed man in western Texas, causing several deaths and at least 21 injuries. Three officers were among those injured, the police said. A 17-month-old baby was also injured during the attack.
"Enough, that's enough," Pelosi said later in a statement. "Every day, the epidemic of gun violence inflicts a devastating toll on communities across the country, forcing far too many people to bear the brunt of grief and tragedy."
"The Republican Senate must put an end to its filibuster and adopt the common sense, the bill of violence prevention by firearms adopted by the House and bipartisan that the country demands," she added.
The Congress will meet again on 9 September after the summer holidays.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and all those injured during the shooting in Odessa & Midland, TX.
Thanks to the first responders who risked their lives to end the threat.@senatemajldr should bring back H.R. 8 the week back from Congress. We must #endgunviolence.
Other Democratic legislators, including Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, also invited McConnell to do more.

Time is up, @SenateMajLdr. Let's vote on gun safety legislation now. Every day you wait, other tragedies occur.
Do something, Senator McConnell. America has finished waiting.
I think tonight of those who lost their lives in Odessa and Midland and the loved ones they left behind. It is perfectly clear that we must take steps to reduce gun violence in Canada.@senatemajldr allowing votes on HR8 and HR1112 would be a good start.
Another horrible mass shot in Texas. I have a broken heart for the victims of Odessa and Midland and their families.
How many times will the Senate do nothing? It is time to end our epidemic of armed violence. @senatemajldr, do you want to defend families and let the Senate vote?
Not a look of #MassacreMitch since #OdessaS Shooting. Texas is crying. America is crying. McConnell is silent. Mitch McConnell's legislative misconduct led to an absolute failure in the pursuit of #GunReform. Trump, McConnell and the GOP seize money from the gun lobby and run, run, run.
