Daniel, a four-year-old diagnosed with autism, recently regained his voice with the help of Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus' "Old Town Road."
Former ABC13 Eyewitness News employee Sheletta Brundidge shared the video of the "Old Town Road" miracle on Twitter, which has become viral since.
Brundidge said that Daniel, who is nonverbal, was caught humming the song, and then started singing the lyrics himself.
"Suddenly, he begins to sing these words:" I'm going to take my horse on the road to the old city, "" she said. "And I was like," Oh my God my child is singing something we have not taught him. "
The mother of four has described this moment as a miracle because little Daniel has trouble putting words together.
"He was diagnosed at the age of 1 year, but even after three years of intense therapy, he still has trouble pronouncing more than three words at a time," Brundidge told Eyewitness News.
Since he's started singing the hit song, Brundidge has said, "He has all the parts of Lil Nas X and I rock Billy Ray Cyrus."
The inspiring tweet and video drew the attention of Lil Nas X, who retweeted Brundidge and said, "What a king."
Daniel also has two other autistic brothers – Brandon, age 6, and Cameron, age 5. Although they have progressed during their therapy sessions, Brundidge asserts that Daniel's autism is the most serious.
"It's been a tough battle, we're still trying, we're still working very hard to progress," said Brundidge.
According to Brundidge, after Daniel's breakthrough, his therapists began using the song during their session. "Now we use it in therapy and they use it at school with its special education classes."
Brundidge added that they would look for other songs that could help Daniel and that they were delighted that he "finally had his breakthrough".
