Lil Nas X is nominated for 'Old Town Road'

The appointments were announced Wednesday.

Despite the singer's rural outfit, the rural theme, and the debut of Billboard's Hot Country, "Old Town Road" has not been declared a country enough. Billboard removed the song from his painting, causing outrage.

But it is apparently enough country for the CMAs, even if it received only one candidacy.

Billboard reported that Maren Morris was leading the pack with six nominations, followed closely by the Osborne brothers four times, according to Rolling Stone. Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Kacey Musgraves, Blake Shelton, Stapleton and Carrie Underwood each have three nods.

Underwood is back home, but instead of Brad Paisley, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton will join her.
