Lil Wayne offered financial help to the police officer who saved him from suicide.
The rapper, 38, recently opened up about trying to kill himself in New Orleans when he was just 12 and praised police officer Robert Hoobler, whom he calls Uncle Bob, for the ‘taking him to the hospital and saving his life.
Robert revealed that when they met in 2019, Lil Wayne offered to provide financial support if he needed it, telling him “all he has to do is say the word.”

Robert told TMZ he didn’t accept his generous offer to the rapper, but that they discussed his joining Lil Wayne’s team in “some sort of administrative capacity.”

He attempted suicide as a boy following a phone call with his aunt who told him he would not be allowed to continue playing music after dropping out of classes.
The musician also described the series of events that led to his attempt where his mother found out he had skipped school and was coming home to punish him for his actions.

Speaking on an August episode of the Uncomfortable Conversations podcast with Emmanuel Acho, Wayne revealed, “I picked up the phone, called the police. Yes, I knew where she had put her gun and it. “was in her room. And so I went to her room, grabbed the gun. I already made the phone call, looked in the mirror.”
‘I pulled the trigger. [I shot] in my chest. I aimed at my heart, but felt nothing. So I didn’t feel any pain, it was shock. I woke up to the beatings of the police, that’s what woke me up. It took too long to die.
He added: “The blood was flowing so much from my chest that it was easy for me to slide with my shirt on the wood on the floor. I have come all the way there. All the energy I had left was to kick the door.

Law enforcement officials found his body, but instead of giving him medical treatment, they searched the home for drugs and other weapons.
Uncle Bob ran up the steps and immediately helped Wayne, the rapper remembering, “I was spitting all over his face, blood and everything and everything and all I was trying to say was that I’m not a baby. He kept saying, ‘Can’t you see the fucking baby on the floor with a hole in his chest?’ ”
“He was yelling at them… and he had to be the boss because they all came into the room and thought, ‘Oh, sorry, boss, we called the ambulance’ and he said, ‘I didn’t. do not do. t gives f ** k. ” ‘

Wayne gave God credit for saving his life that day and added that he had never really been able to discuss his mental health with his mother.
“When you have no one to confide in, no one to share it with, you can’t take it to your friends at school because you always try to be cool with them, you don’t try. to let them know, “I have something going on at home,” he said.
“Plus, what I never said was… the mother I knew from before that day, about my life and everyone’s lives.” I have never met, seen or heard this lady again in my life.
“So I didn’t die that day, but someone was gone. She has never been like that again, ”he continued. “As far as the parents are concerned, this was obviously a revelation for her. And what she decided to do is let my flower grow.
Wayne also shared that he met Bob again years later.
“I met him years later and he said, ‘I’m just happy to see that I saved a life that mattered.'”
In his 2015 track London Road, Lil Wayne suggested that Bob died rapping, “I remember going into your gun drawer, putting it against my chest and missing a few inches, I remember being dead on his bedroom floor and waking up in the arms of a policeman he died recently, so I hope Heaven made more room for him.
However, Bob contacted Wayne after the track was released to confirm that he was alive and well and that the rapper would not need to cover his funeral costs, which Wayne reportedly offered to do.
