Limp Bizkit, freshly returned to the limelight last weekend with a set at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, has canceled the remaining dates for his North American tour.
The group released a statement which read: “Out of caution and concern for the safety of the group, the team and especially the fans, the Limp Bizkit show on Monday and the remaining August tour are canceled.
“Refunds are available at their points of sale. All tickets purchased online will be automatically refunded. “
Later, in an Instagram story, singer Fred Durst brought up rumors that guitarist Wes Borland had tested positive for COVID, saying, “1. Wes Boland does not have COVID. 2. The system is seriously defective. 3. We don’t care much about it. about BS. “
Elsewhere, tour dates continue to be postponed as confusion persists over the safety of the group and fans, while other dates have been put on hold due to positive COVID testing within tours.
Among the groups affected is Lynyrd Skynyrd, whose longtime guitarist Rickey Medlocke has tested positive for the virus.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Lynyrd Skynyrd is unable to perform the next four concerts in Canton, OH, Jackson, MI, Atlanta, GA and Cullman, AL,” the group wrote on social media. “Longtime group member Rickey Medlocke has tested positive for COVID-19. Rickey is resting at home and responding well to treatment. We will continue to update you on his condition. ”
The news comes just two weeks after former Thin Lizzy guitarist Damon Johnson was called in to replace founding member Gary Rossington as he recovered from heart surgery.
Other affected tours include Tesla, which was forced to postpone several dates due to tour members who contracted COVID, including guitarist Frank Hannon, and REO Speedwagon, whose frontman Kevin Cronin took to Twitter to say, “While we practice the CDC and locally recommended COVID-19 protocols on tour, members of the REO tour family have recently tested positive.”
Meanwhile, Shinedown drummer Barry Kerch will miss a number of dates after testing positive. He posted a video via the group’s Instagram account, saying, “In 20 years of Shinedown, I’ve never missed a show so far. I regret to say that unfortunately during rehearsals I contracted COVID. And before you got mad on me, I was completely vaxxed in April, I followed all the rules: wear masks, wash my hands, et cetera.
“Unfortunately, I am one of those who had it even though I was vaxxed. So unfortunately I still tested positive. I am in quarantine. My health is good, which is good news. have had symptoms, but I’m fine, and I’ll be fine. “
Another musician who tested positive is the former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach, who released a video revealing that he had also been vaccinated earlier in the year and felt “totally fine”.
Elsewhere, James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt have pulled out of a headlining tour of Canada for the second time due to “current challenges of COVID-19 and restrictions on gatherings in some provinces,” while the chief by Bachman Turner Overdrive Randy Bachman and Guess Who Singer Burton Cummings has canceled his tour of the United States, citing difficulties in traveling within and outside Canada.
The 2021 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has also been canceled – including performances by the Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters and Stevie Nicks – while Fall Out Boy has pulled out of two dates on his Hella Mega tour with Green Day and Weezer la last week after a member of their touring group tested positive.
