“We have a job” …

Lions general manager Brad Holmes pulls off a trade to aggressively land the quarterback of the future in Detroit. After consulting with Dolphins Wire editor-in-chief Kyle Crabbs, we came up with the following deal:

Lions trade 7th overall, 101st overall (third round acquired from the Rams) and a 2022 first-round pick (whichever is higher the Lions own or the Rams’) to Miami for No. 3 and Miami’s seventh-round pick at No. 231 (acquired from Houston).

He’s moving forward to secure Trey Lance, the early North Dakota State quarterback with extremely high potential but limited experience. Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields weren’t on set here. Lance lands in Detroit, where he has time to learn and develop behind Jared Goff for a year (or two) without being thrown into the fray until he’s ready.

And because you want to know… Miami takes either Kyle Pitts (favorite) or Ja’Marr Chase in 7th place.
