On Saturday Post Malone will organize a virtual concert to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise. If that combination wasn’t weird enough, today he revealed one of the songs he would perform: a cover of the mid-90s Hootie & the Blowfish hit “Only Wanna Be With You.”
I don’t know exactly how much of a cross between Post, Hootie and Pokemon fans, but the song is definitely a real thing. You can listen to the coverage in the video above, and The Pokémon Company says that “the song will be included as part of Post’s headlining appearance” during the virtual concert, which airs on February 27 at 7 p.m. ET. You can watch the stream live on Twitch and YouTube.
Elsewhere, it looks like we have some big news from the franchise as well. On February 26 at 10 a.m. ET, The Pokémon Company will host an event on its YouTube channel, which promises “about 20 minutes of Pokemon news.”
