Commission: Electricity will cost around 15% to domestic consumers.

The price list specialists estimate that the most commonly used standard rate will increase by 15%, from 1.7 to 13 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) (with VAT), while the House rate for a time zone hourly is 17.5% or 1, 7 cents to 11.4 cents.

On Friday, the Commission will approve electricity and gas consumption tariffs for consumers from the Lithuanian Energy Supply Company (LET). The increase in the price of gasoline will be clear Friday morning.

Inge Žilienė, chair of the Price Commission, said Wednesday that gasoline price growth from January could be about 8 to 9 cents per cubic meter.

According to the SNB, the first group – for gas consuming consumers only – is expected to cost between 59 and 68 cents per cubic meter, while the second group – gas heated homes – would cost 39 to 47 cents. Subscription fees will not change for them.

However, it is possible that Friday, the commission confirms slightly lower prices.

Energy Minister, Žygimantas Vaičiūnas, said that price growth is determined by the price of raw materials in the market, but that decisions already made will reduce prices by a third.

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said on Wednesday that there was not much space to further reduce price growth, but if the Seimas approved the bills on the sale of gas necessary to Lithgas markets for a more efficient sale of gas and LNG terminal in Klaipeda, the price of gas could be adjusted for consumers.

"The adoption of these laws in the Seimas will also have a positive impact on the reduction of the security component, especially in terms of the price of gasoline," the minister said.

Last time, electricity was sold to consumers in 2013 and then cheaper each year. Gas is cheaper since 2014, when the Russian group "Gazprom" applied a reduction, but after its expiry last July, it cost between 5 and 8%. At the beginning of this year, they still fall by almost 8%, but only for smaller households that use gas for food preparation.
