The exhibition, which continues until the end of the summer, will look like a research lab open to a curious audience and, on the other hand, to a fun park from physical and emotional experiences or to a sprawling space blast.
The curator of the exhibition, Vytautas Michelkevičius, reveals that curiosity is introduced in Neringa, that the exhibition halls are turned into training halls, that the local mentality develops through a constant work in a specific landscape and that the traditional song is transformed into a caricaturist.
The architects of the exhibition, Ona Lozuraitytė and Petras Išora, will welcome the exhibition hall of the Nida Art colony and transform it into an industrialized landscape of Neringa that will allow a completely new experience of the clusters and surfaces. In addition, they participate in the exhibition and as researchers, revealing the layers of the park and the unidentified geological surfaces visible and affected.
The artist and doctor of biology Špela Petrič (Slovenia) will invite to experiment the phytocracy which will replace the democracy of Neringa, it means that it is not the people, but the plants control us. His unique performative action at the time of opening was to get out of the human fur (human) through specially designed tools.
Lina Lapelytė will present a video produced on the occasion of a chamber performance in the Nida Forest, and the duo of artists Anna Romanenko and Björn Kühn of Germany will offer to the audience The opportunity to try special training tools that can change their mentality.
This is not just an art exhibition but a visual, sound, performative and interactive story about the Curonian Spit, where contemporary art offers a platform for meet researchers from different fields and artists.
The artists participating in the exhibition work and are recognized internationally in different contexts: theater, music and performance, architecture and visual arts. Lithuanian pavilion in 2019 VDA Nida Art Colony will present Lina Lapelytė, Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė and Vaiva Grainytė, opera performance "The sun and the sea" at the Venice Biennale. Architects Ona Lozuraitytė and Petras Išoras develop the bridge in Seoul (South Korea).
At the opening on July 20 at 6 pm a participative performance-action will take place. Speta Petrich (Slovenia), at least, temporarily asks the idea that Neringa has no democracy, but the phytocracy, not the people, but the plants.
