New studies show that the risk of heart attack has increased dramatically in recent years due to rising air temperatures. The raging heat is dangerous not only for the heart but also for the many healthy people. To prevent serious heart problems, it is not enough to control your blood pressure or your cardiogram.
The danger is as healthy
Steam – an important factor of myocardial infarction. In the spring of the European Heart Journal, this hypothesis was announced by a group of German scientists who studied more than 27,000 people. Patients with heart attacks in Augsburg in the period 1987-2014. It has become clear that the risk of heart attack has increased in recent years as a result of bitter waves. The heat that hit Europe last year was particularly dangerous.
Such a climate change is particularly dangerous for heart patients with diabetes mellitus with cholesterol alteration, etc. But the heat of thirst is not only a threat to the heart but also to the many apparently healthy people.
In such extreme conditions for a long time, the temperature of the blood increases and is more frequent. During dehydration, the blood thickens and the risk of clot formation increases. In addition, the venous tone is reduced, the work of the heart muscle is aggravated, etc. There is even more danger when it comes to playing sports or floating in the garden.
Complex searches are needed
Often, a person does not know that his heart or blood vessels are already damaged. In this case, the risk of unexpected infarction, stroke and other diseases increases. To prevent serious heart problems, it is not enough to control your blood pressure or your cardiogram.
"Effective prevention of cardiovascular disease requires complex research. Specialists offer different sets of cardiac tests. What is most effective will be the near future. But the most important thing is that family doctors, who are the first to treat blood diseases, can use innovations quickly, "said Svajūnas Barakauskas.
Currently, blood pressure is usually measured in Lithuania to badess the risk of circulatory diseases, cholesterol, diabetes tests, electrocardiograms, smoking, lack of physical activity and other factors of risk.
Made the fifth most effective
Barakauskas recalled a recent major study by American scientists on the astronaut program. According to the researchers, this set of five cardiovascular studies is the most effective.
"Scientists at the University of Texas are confident that a 12-lead electrocardiogram should be diagnosed preventively with a computed tomography for the coronary arteries.
C-reactive protein, NT-pro BNP and high sensitivity troponin T blood levels. The searches selected for the fivefold might surprise many of our doctors. No cholesterol study has been established in the prevention program in Lithuania, "said the specialist.
According to Americans, this five-point study offers much more advanced methods than those currently available to diagnose the dangerous complications of atherosclerosis in the patient in the next 10 to 20 years: atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, stroke brain, heart failure, etc. It was found that if all of the results mentioned above did not meet the standard, the patient's risk of illness was 20 times higher in a decade.
Specialists have used the results of more than a decade of US studies on atherosclerosis and heart (MESA and Dallas Heart Study) involving more than 8600 patients. The study was funded in part by the National Institute for Space Biomedical Research, linked to NASA.
Uses state-of-the-art technology
All studies recommended by American cardiologists are also conducted in Lithuanian advanced medical centers and laboratories.
A computerized tomograph, in a standard case, allows to evaluate the presence of calcified atherosclerotic plaques in the coronary arteries. The risk of circulatory diseases increases even if even minor atherosclerotic lesions are detected. This study is also conducted for ambulatory patients.
The study of C-reactive protein of high sensitivity helps to identify one of the main factors of atherosclerosis – vascular inflammation. This helps predict the risk of heart attack or stroke even in patients who still have cholesterol levels.
The NT-pro BNP study allows an immediate diagnosis of acute or chronic heart failure. If a substance (natriuretic peptide) is found in the blood excreted by overloaded heart cells, the patient suffers from the disease.
Cardiologists use high sensitivity troponin T for heart muscle injuries. He reached his modern medical laboratories at the beginning of this decade. For cardiologists, this study has greatly improved the diagnosis and prognosis of heart attacks.
