The Regulatory Authority for Communications of the Republic of Lithuania (RRT) has updated the maps of the expected coverage areas for the UAB Bitė Lietuva, AB Omnitel and UAB Tele2 LTE (4G) and UMTS ( 3G).
Coverage maps allow users to compare and select mobile services based on their level of quality. The maps are published on the RRT website http://epaslaugos.rrt.lt/apreptis/.
"The published data shows that the next generation of LTE (4G) mobile communications, offering higher data rates, already covers more than 90% of the costs," said Feliksas Dobrovolskis, Director of the RRT. – "The operators of these results make efficient use of available radio frequencies – the 800 MHz frequency band is mainly used in rural areas and on the motorway, while the 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz frequency bands are mainly used in areas and airports. densely populated cities. It is also gratifying to find that the number of subscribers who have used LTE services has increased more than three times a year. In the first quarter, it reached 682.2 thousand. subscribers, "said Dobrovolski.
The coverage areas are provided according to different levels of electromagnetic signal, starting from the minimum that allows the connection in the open area to the communication level in the building. The coverage areas of all operator networks were calculated using uniform methods, taking into account the impact of land, buildings and forests. The calculations were done by operators and submitted by RRT until 2016. June 1st recorded data from the base station.
The maps compare operator networks across the Lithuanian territory, as well as with the different municipalities, ie. there. The user can check on the map which mobile signal from the service provider is the most powerful in his area.
