On Tuesday, the newcomers of Cedevita to Zagreb and Petrol Olympia to Ljubljana were presented – Cedevita Olimpia from Ljubljana.
The new team will participate in the European Cup and the Adriatic for next season. From the second stage, she will also join the Slovenian championship.
The team must be made up of Slovenian basketball players and the club will play at home at the Stožice Sports Center in Ljubljana.
"It's the first time in history that two clubs from different countries are joining together," commented Cedevita's president, Emil Tedeschis. "I do not doubt that there will be skeptics, but we believe in our project."
The club's long-term goal is to enter the Euroleague tournament.
In the past, the Lublian Club, which has a long history, was played by a number of Lithuanians, including Šarūnas Jasikevičius.
