Seasonal work – no ice cream merchant

"Another myth that the most popular seasonal work among young people is that of an ice cream vendor, because these positions are relatively small and even minor, it is important to understand that seasonal work is not limited to at the vendor or waiter position, but that the range of summer jobs is increasing every year, "says V. Strazdas.

According to the interlocutor, farmers in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors are actively looking for farmers in areas where work is seasonal. They need auxiliary workers, berry pickers, sorters, field workers. In metropolitan areas, the sectors of accommodation, restaurants and shops are the most popular.

As they prepared for the summer season, employers began looking for waiters, bartenders and kitchen helpers for temporary jobs. Demand for these employees increased the most in April.

"We are experiencing a huge staff shortage in the hotel and restaurant sectors. Their biggest drawback is felt in the tourist towns – Druskininkai, Birštonas, Anykščiai. Most look for auxiliary staff in the kitchen for housewives, cooks or employees. For these cities, employers often have to bring even Ukrainians, Byelorussians, which causes a lot of interference. They need a visa, which takes time, "said Evalda Šiškauskienė, president of the Lithuanian Association of Hotels and Restaurants.

Employers offer accessories

"Many companies are trying to attract seasonal workers not only for financial rewards, but also for housing, free lunches, qualification courses, and so on. For example, if an employee needs tomorrow, the employer sometimes offers twice the usual salary, "notes the office manager.
