Three astronauts returned to Earth Thursday from the International Space Station (ISS), where they spent more than six months, the AP news agency reported.

The Russian Soyuz with NASA astronaut Serena Aunon-Chancellor, Russian astronaut Sergey Prokopyev and European Space Agency astronaut Alexander Alexander Gerst landed in the snow-covered steppes of Kazakhstan 140 km southeast of the town of Zizkazgan.

The crew reached the Earth a minute earlier than planned. Russian rescue teams rushed to the astronaut to help them out of the capsule.

They spent 197 days in space. This mission was the first for S. Aunon-Chanchellor and S. Prokopyev, but for Gerst, it was the second.

Three astronauts, NASA astronaut Anne McClain, Russian Oleg Kononenko and Canadian Space Agency astronaut David Saint-Jacques will fly to TKS earlier this month.
