End of the 1st trimester
BYU 10, State of Utah 3
There’s a lot of offense, especially for BYU, at the start of this game.
The Cougars moved quickly in their first practice, scoring 74 yards in three games to take a 7-0 lead on a 22-yard touchdown run from Tyler Allgeier. This was set up by a 42-yard reception by Baylor Romney’s Puka Nacua, who starts for Jaren Hall at quarterback.
Utah State got the ball first, but their first try came to an end when BYU cornerback Malik Moore made an impressive one-handed interception on the Cougar 26.
Both teams added field goals later in the quarter – Jake Oldroyd hit 49 yards and Connor Coles hit 52 yards – thinking BYU missed a chance to get a second touchdown. His second practice reached USU 1 before the Aggies pushed them back.
The Cougars have 146 yards on offense, compared to Utah State’s 59.
