Chicago police on Thursday described the case of "brutal murder of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez" as "terrible and horrible".
"This is a pretty terrible and horrible case," said Deputy Chief Inspectors Brendan Deenihan.
Ochoa-Lopez, a nine-month-old pregnant, went missing on April 23, after she went to pick up baby items from a woman she'd met on a Facebook group, said a spokesperson for the victim's family at WGN.
Her body was found this week in a garbage bin behind the woman's home. The cause of his death was a strangulation homicide, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said Wednesday.
Deenihan said the police had started investigating the case of Ochoa-Lopez shortly after it was reported missing, but that the case had taken a turn on May 7.
